Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) supports the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Vice Chairman and Managing Director Thomas Kwok today (May 2) took part in the Olympic torch relay to celebrate the honour with Hong Kong. Nearly 300 SHKP employees showed up to cheer the torch and SHKP asked its 27,000 employees, over 270,000 SHKP Club members, residents and tenants to wear red to show their support.
Cheering mainland China
SHKP is fully behind the Beijing Olympics and welcomed the torch with the people of Hong Kong as the city hosted the first leg of relay in China. Thomas Kwok was thrilled to be part of the relay, saying: "I feel very honoured to be a Beijing Olympic torchbearer witnessing this historical moment. This is a tremendous honour for the Group and I was moved by seeing thousands of people cheering along the route. We all feel proud and cheer our country's first hosting of the Olympic Games." SHKP also encouraged its 27,000-plus employees, over 270,000 SHKP Club members and residents and retail and commercial tenants of its developments to wear red today to support the country.
Chief Executive at Shopping mall celebration
Selected SHKP malls have broadcast the torch relay live today and staged massive promotion activities to celebrate the remarkable day. Chief Executive Donald Tsang joined nearly 10,000 people at a marathon show at apm in Kowloon East and at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin, the Olympic silver medalist Ko Lai-chak talked about his honour of being a relay runner. A series of exciting Olympic celebration was also held at wtc more in Causeway Bay.
Royal Park Hotel – First Hong Kong Olympic Village
SHKP's Royal Park Hotel has been designated Hong Kong's first Olympic Village. It will provide premium accommodation for over 300 athletes and support staff during the equestrian events. Major Olympic promotions are being held in SHKP's malls, residential estates and office developments, accompanied by extensive publicity including billboards, newspaper ad, posters and leaflets.
