Dr Raymond Kwok's speech at at the ICC Observation Deck Press Conference

21 January 2010

Dr Raymond Kwok - Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited

Mr. Tien, honourable judges, distinguished guests and friends from the media, good afternoon and welcome to the press conference.

International Commerce Centre is the tallest building in Hong Kong and a new landmark of which Sun Hung Kai Properties is very proud. The observation deck in ICC will also be the highest in Hong Kong and offer an unrivalled tourist attraction.

Hong Kong is home to Sun Hung Kai Properties, and in keeping with our belief in 'Building Homes with Heart' we are dedicated to building a better Hong Kong and promoting the city's economic advancement. The Kowloon Station development is a key integrated project that will enhance Hong Kong's long-term prosperity with its combination of prime offices, a shopping centre, hotels, luxury residences and cultural facilities in an accessible location. It is certain to further cement Hong Kong's status as an international metropolis.

At the heart of the development is International Commerce Centre – Hong Kong's tallest and most prominent landmark. Its observation deck will offer the highest vantage point in Hong Kong allowing visitors a breath-taking panoramic view of the entire city and the beautiful Victoria Harbour both during the day and night.

We are giving people around the world an opportunity to contribute to this highly-anticipated attraction with an ICC observation deck naming contest to decide upon a designation in English and Chinese that best fits this feature of the prestigious new landmark.

Sun Hung Kai Properties has long been committed to the development of Hong Kong. The city's tourism sector remains a pillar of the economy, with total tourist spending reaching HK$160 billion1 in the past year. Sun Hung Kai Properties has built many iconic landmarks over the years with its professional expertise in high-quality property development, and we hope the opening of the ICC observation deck in the fourth quarter of 2010 will give a new impetus to Hong Kong tourism and let visitors experience the energy of this vibrant city. I am confident this landmark development will be a big contribution to Hong Kong.

Thank you.
